Recommended team size: 1 to 5 members
Project and Submission RequirementsProjects must focus on real physical Braille recognition.
Accepted:
- Real embossed Braille from paper
- Handwritten/manual Braille made using slate and stylus
- Braille writer output
- Camera-captured Braille images
- Live camera-based Braille scanning
Not accepted as a complete project:
- Only digital Braille Unicode to English conversion
- Only text-based mapping without camera/image processing
- Only a UI mockup with no working recognition logic
- Copied projects without proper credit
Participants may use open-source libraries, public datasets, APIs, AI tools, and pre-trained models, but the final submission must clearly explain what was built by the team.
OriginalityAll submitted work must be original or properly credited.
Using open-source code is allowed, but participants must mention:
- Source links
- What was reused
- What was modified
- What was newly built during the hackathon
Projects will be evaluated based on:
- Accuracy of physical Braille recognition
- Real-time or near real-time performance
- Robustness under lighting, angle, blur, and spacing variations
- Quality of Braille cell segmentation
- Accessibility and user experience
- Technical implementation
- Innovation
- Practical usefulness for visually impaired users
- Clarity of demo and documentation
Participants must maintain respectful and professional communication throughout the event.
Harassment, plagiarism, fake submissions, abusive behavior, or misuse of sponsor/platform resources may lead to disqualification.
Prize NotesCash prizes will be awarded to the Top 25 winners based on final judging.
The additional $50 OpenAI credits will be given to another 25 selected participants or teams based on eligibility, quality of participation, and sponsor confirmation.
Organizers reserve the right to verify submissions before releasing prizes or credits.
